Joel Burris is all about one thing: Family. ATD was formed originally as just a way to make money to support his wife Dacota, and son AKA "Sully." Quickly it's developed into more than just a way to earn a paycheck - its a way to give back and increase the family of ATD.
As a medically-forced, highschool drop-out, Joel worked hard to earn his GED and prove himself. A local pastor saw his talent and plugged him into a role at the local church running the song lyrics. This simple act of someone reaching out brought ATD to what it is today.
In addition to ATD, Joel is on staff at Landmark Church where he calls home in Strafford, MO. There he is Creative Director and leads a team of volunteers teaching young people how to run live sound, lighting, camera work, and screen media. From this ministry several young people have gone on to pursue careers in media production.
Believing if it hadn't been for the one person to give him a chance, Joel attributes the vision of ATD to the Lord and that pastor. "The Underdog is the hardest worker and someone needs to throw him a bone sometime! If you teach a boy to fish..." Joel looks to the scriptures to apply this verse to the vision of ATD:
2 Timothy 4:12
12 "Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."
